Back to School :)

Woo! So today was my first day of term 2 at performing arts school! I had a really great day and it was great to get back into the swing of things!

To start off the day we had auditions for our repertoire piece this term West Side Story! I was in group four to audition (which happened to be the last group) and went in with about 11 other girls whom I go to school with. The first song that we had to sing was America. The first two girls went and got to sing through the entire piece (which only goes for about a minute) but when it came to me I was cut off about halfway through. This stressed me out a little bit because I thought that maybe I just wasn’t what they wanted and that I wouldn’t get a part (everybody gets into the show).

They got through the rest of the line and then asked us to chat among ourselves while they made some decisions as to what to do next. They then called two of us forward to sing Somewhere as a bit of a callback. I was one of the girls to be chosen and the other girl I was with is super sweet and talented and so it was a little nerve racking! We first sang the song together, then I sang it solo and after that she sang it solo. I think I let my nerves get the better of me and I didn’t sing it to my fullest potential! I also can’t quite reach some of the top notes though so I don’t think I’ll be cast anyway.

After we both sang we were asked to step back in line, when the other girl was asked to come forward and sing I Feel Pretty on her own, meaning that she probably got the part over me, which is okay because it’s a great part for her as she suits it really well!

When she had finished singing the next song they called two girls forward to sing for Rosalinda and Anita. The first two girls were really good! The then called on me again to sing for the part of Anita and chose another girl to try for Rosalinda too! I think I did better in this one as I wasn’t quite so nervous and it’s more in my range! After me they called forward another two girls who were also really good in the parts! I’m really curious to see how they’ll end up casting the show because I think no matter who they go with the performance will still be top notch!

That completed the singing portion of the audition and we then had to wait for our dance call. Once we were called in they split us into 3 groups of 3 or 4 people each where I was put in the first group. We did a routine to Cool that we had learnt last term and did it twice in front of the audition panel. I was right up the front of my group of four and couldn’t really see how the other girl’s in my audition did. I felt pretty good about my dancing though. We then had to do a double ballet pirouette on the right and left which I faltered in a little. The turns themselves were good however I bobbled on both closings – especially the one on the left. Kindly though one of the people on the audition panel said to me not to stress and that there was a lot of good things between the beginning and the end of each turn! I wasn’t the only one to wobble though, and no one in my audition group had perfect pirouettes!

That ended the audition process for today and I can’t wait until tomorrow to see how they cast it!

After lunch I had yoga. I think yoga’s supposed to be really relaxing but for me it just hurt! My back hurt, my knees hurt, my wrists hurt – you name it and it probably hurt! It also probably didn’t help that I had no idea what was going on! Here’s the teacher saying stuff like windmill to warrior pose and I’m trying to like hold a spear or something while everyone else is in a lunge! I suck at yoga! The teacher was really nice though and did a really good job at giving equal attention to everybody. I really liked having her and hope that she’ll come back (and hopefully teach something besides yoga…)!

Final class of the day was improvisation which was fun! We had this really great teacher who is very outspoken about what we’re doing wrong and what we can improve on! I really liked him and the class was super fun to go to! As soon as we started acting the entire class was in stitches! I loved his class and can’t wait to go back next week!

ANZAC Day 2017

I would like to begin this blog post by saying that I very gratefully acknowledge and respect those who fought and died in the name of freedom for the Australian people. On this day, just as any other, their bravery is once more commended as we are able to live in the country they fought for us to have. Lest We Forget.

In case you haven’t already figured it out, today was ANZAC Day (ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps), where we the Australian people stop to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought at war for the freedom and betterment of our country.

Midge’s grandparents were in town for a particular ANZAC Day march and so Midge and I caught the train in to be there with them for that. This is the first time that I’ve met Midge’s grandparents and I honestly think they’re really good, nice people. The particular ANZAC march that we were at had a big focus on recognising the contribution of Indigenous Australians have made and as such there were lots of Indigenous people at this event, most of which proudly displayed Aboriginal flags and colours red, black and yellow on their person. And so I’m sticking out like a sore thumb because I am clearly the palest person there. Midge even turned to me at one point to ask me if I had noticed how white I was compared to everyone else. And of course, at this particular march everyone marches. And so I really feel out of place because once again I am clearly not an Indigenous person, nor do I have any relatives who had fought in any war or even joined the armed forces. Anyway, the ceremony on the whole was really nice and I was glad to be there for this year.

And then there were three?

So the pain in the arse Blondie is at it again today with not one but two reasons to hate her even more.

First things first – the mailbox key. We have one key for our apartment and Blondie has claimed it as hers. Well enough’s enough and Midge went and asked her to put the key on our communal key rack in the kitchen but Blondie refused! And it would probably be okay if Blondie didn’t also take our mail! Like today Guy asked Blondie if his letter had shown up and she said yes, it was in her room and had been in there since Friday! Keep in mind it’s now Monday! And I honestly don’t trust her not to have opened and read my mail already! God knows the bitch lies like a rug!

Secondly the parking incident. Now Blondie and I are the only two who have cars in Sydney and as part of the unit we have tandem parking (meaning one car behind the other). Blondie has been parking in the rear car park so that I have to go and park in visitor as I’ve been doing for 15 weeks now. So today I decided that since I pay for that car park that maybe for once I should treat Blondie like she treat’s me and go park in the rear space and make her park in visitor! So out comes Bitch Blondie again who is entitled to having everything her way and says that this isn’t fair, even though it was perfectly fair when I had to climb two extra flights of stairs every time I drove my car and calls her mother who tries to bully me into letting Princess Blondie park there again. So her mother contacts my mother as well as the mothers of Guy and Midge and the 4 of us through FaceBook messanger. She makes all these bold accusations of me unplugging the kettle when Blondie was using it and keeps saying that I’m refusing to move my car (which mind you I kind of was), most of which are lies. But I try to keep my cool and I reply that – and I quote – “Obviously this wasn’t the best way to handle the situation of the car park. I will talk to [Blondie] about that. As for this whole kettle stuff. I know nothing about that but I will talk about that with [Blondie] as well”. Fairly mature if you ask me. Now their best come back about the car park is that it’s a double car park – which it is – however for the last 15 weeks despite both me and Midge asking her to move her car forward she refuses clearly demonstrating that only one of us can park there. So I try to suggest to Blondie in person that since she parked there for the first term of school for this next term it’s probably fair if I can park there and she park in visitor, but no. This does not suit the selfish spoilt Blondie and so WW3 erupts. But I’m not going to fight so I call my mum and leave (moving my car out of the car park). However Blondie’s mother has written twice more in the group chat that – and again quoting here – “Just letting everybody know that Georgie refused to move her car again”! I honestly cannot believe that this is a grown woman that is saying this! Clearly an old high school bully if you ask me! Any way, from this point on I let my mum handle it – Blondie’s mum clearly wasn’t listening to me anymore and this is what was said:

Convo 24 April Part 1Convo 24 April Part 2

(The red is Blondie, the blue is Blondie’s mother and the black is my mum). Clearly Blondie and her mother are both very nasty people and lie about everything – for example cars being towed from visitor (it’s underground car parking – you couldn’t get a tow truck in there!) and will fight like animals until they get what they want.

On the bright side – Blondie is threatening to move out because the 3 of us – despite tiptoeing on eggshells – have upset her way too much and she can’t deal.

I’m saying her or me – and If I go Midge’s mum says she goes too and I don’t think Guy will be sticking around!

As for the parking? Well you guessed it, I’m still stuck parking in visitor

First blog post

Welcome to your tape. Okay, okay… predictable I know but I had to!

What I meant to say is welcome to my blog – The Bored Adventures of Georgie all about the adventures I go on when I’m bored! Most of the time they’re nothing too exciting but just you wait!

Okay, so a little bit about me! I’m Georgie – an 18 year old who lives in Sydney, Australia where I am currently studying performing arts. I’m also a brunette cause I know you’re all curious!

So what’s happened today?

Well my roommate’s boyfriend drank my milk. Again. And I’m pretty pissed about it. Why? Well because this particular roommate is the worst thing about living in Sydney.

There’s 4 of us under one very small roof. We all go to school together, we’re all in the same classes and the 3 of them all knew each other for years before we all moved in together. Blondie (girlfriend of the milk drinker) has to be the biggest pain in the ass. She’s super self centred and always has something to winge about. Midge is the other girl in the house. We do pretty much everything together. We share a bathroom, grocery shop together and wake each other up for school – I think it’s really nice. Then there’s Guy who’s the only boy in our apartment. He’s pretty chill and the three of us (minus Blondie) all get along really well together – although maybe we just bond over our dislike of Blondie.

Anyway, Blondie’s boyfriend was here for a couple of days (he comes pretty frequently) and like always he drank our milk – without asking and without offering to replace it or anything. And it’s not like he just had a splash in his cup of tea or something, no he used it everyday for his cereal and his cup of tea so half the bottle was gone. The milk even had a label on it to say that it was mine and Midge’s.

I guess that’s just another thing to add to the list as to why Blondie’s a pain in the ass.

Anyway, after the whole milk scenario Blondie took her boyfriend to put him on the plane to go back to where he lives and the rest of us had dinner together (we all cooked for ourselves but ate at the table together). We talk about the weirdest most random stuff in this house and its my favourite thing ever! Midge and Guy are just some of the best people you could ever talk to!

That’s pretty much it for today. We’ll see what happens tomorrow 🙂
